Zesco United fire CEO, suspend coach
A RUN of poor results has earned Zesco United coach Emmanuel Siwale a suspension while club chief executive officer Kelvin Mutafu has been fired three months into his 2 – year contract.
ZESCO are struggling for form at the moment. They sit only three points above the relegation zone having gone the last four matches without a win. They are 11th with 25 points, three above the relegation zone.
The club has responded by sending their coach on suspension.
“The following changes have been made to the technical bench. Head Coach Emmanuel Siwale and First Assistant Coach Clive Hachilensa have temporarily been suspended with immediate effect. The suspension follows the ongoing review of the team’s technical setup and Club performance,” a club statement read in part.
In the interim, former striker Winston Kalengo will lead the team.
“During this period, the technical bench will be led by Winston Kalengo, Mwape Mwelwa, Jacob Banda, Emmanuel Mschili and Kondwani Mtonga,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the club also confirmed the departure of CEO Mutafu.
